(The Sunday Times) A Syrian doctor trapped in Aleppo has said that President Obama and the West bear responsibility for patients dying in ill-equipped hospitals in the war-torn city.

Abu Tiem, a paediatrician at the only children’s hospital still functioning in the rebel-held eastern half of Aleppo, was one of 15 doctors who signed a letter to Mr Obama last week begging for humanitarian assistance.
